New Air Force BDUs

The Air Force is now conducting a limited field test of the proposed new battle dress uniform, complete with a new green, tan, blue and gray digitized pattern.

Special operations and survival, evasion, resistance and escape Airmen will conduct a limited wear test of the new design at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., Hurlburt Field, Fla., and Fairchild AFB, Wash., in June.

The new uniform is scheduled to be procured in mid-2005, according to Air Force officials; however, Airmen won't be able to buy the new digs until "sometime in fiscal 2007." Officials also said the proposed uniform will be phased in over four or five years.
